My Story

My name is Jared and I am a professional residential interior and exterior painter.

Prior being the owner / operator of ClearSight Painting Services located in the Comox Valley, I worked as a professional painter on Vancouver Island for a little over a year.

So what came before my two years of painting locally?

‘Before’ is a story inspired by the pandemic. My former life was that of a software developer in New York City. I am quite a handy fellow and at the time, I was good friends with two people who owned interior renovation companies. Perhaps, I am fun to be around. Perhaps it is the great work I do. Or perhaps it was my driver’s license.

Whichever it was, I spent many evenings and weekends rebuilding penthouse suites, modern tech office spaces, downtown fashion shops and single family brownstone units. The work was mostly refresh, ‘move a wall’ or ‘integrate a new counter’ work. And in every case, the work involved new paint.

I loved painting. It was the final step that brought the whole project to a beautiful finish. It brought in light. It focused attention on or away from feature elements in living spaces. It made a room shine.

With the pandemic, New York City shut down. As my life turned from the eventful life of such a wonderful city into a lot of time in a small apartment, I decided to come home. And Vancouver Island is my home. An obvious choice was to pick up a paint brush and do what I love – paint.

If you want to go back even further, I painted my first house about 35 years ago. It was a two story colonial style shake house surrounded by trees. I spent a few weeks on a ladder and my dad told me I did a great job. Thinking back, I believe I really did. But I was a teen so who knows. I even got paid.

Bring me into your world and I will do what I love to do. I will paint. Picking the colour is your job. Creating a fabulous finish that will last for years is mine.
